Joseph Long is originally from the Lancaster, Pennsylvania–Amish Country area, and he moved to the Grand Strand over a decade ago. He started his medical career working as a certified nursing assistant at the age of 16 and has continued to climb the nursing ladder ever since.
When he started nursing school in 2005, Joseph worked in the busiest ER in the state of Pennsylvania. This is where he fell in love with orthopedics and trauma. After graduating from the associate’s program at Harrisburg Area Community College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Joseph moved to the Grand Strand and completed his bachelor’s degree at Coastal Carolina University. Later, he earned his master’s degree at Walden University and worked as a nurse practitioner at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center before returning to his passion of orthopedics by joining the OrthoSC team.
When he is not seeing patients, Joseph enjoys spending his time with his wife and their daughter, participating in outdoor activities, and taking care of his vast exotic animal collection.
