Benjamin J. Catoe, D.O.

Delivering advanced sports medicine and complete shoulder care, Dr. Benjamin Catoe is a fellowship-trained orthopedic specialist. Dr. Catoe’s expertise includes minimally invasive arthroscopic management of sports-related injuries related to the ankle, elbow, knee, hip, and shoulder as well as total shoulder and total knee replacement. He focuses on each patient’s unique needs to develop a treatment plan that is evidence-based, patient-centered, and goal-oriented to help his patients regain the life they love.

Hailing from Sumter, South Carolina, Dr. Catoe graduated from Charleston Southern University in South Carolina with his undergraduate degree in athletic training. He then earned his medical degree from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Spartanburg, South Carolina, before completing his orthopedic surgery residency at Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital in Phenix City, Alabama. Dr. Catoe went on to advance his subspecialized training in sports medicine and shoulder reconstruction through a yearlong fellowship at Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas in Greenville, South Carolina.

Dr. Catoe wants his patients to be well-versed in their decision-making process in order to understand their care options to allow them the ability to choose the treatment that works best for them. His goal is always to provide the highest level of care in an efficient and effective manner. He also enjoys being around athletics of all types, treating athletic-related injuries, and being a part of the solution and return to play for athletes who sustain injuries.

Since childhood, Dr. Catoe has enjoyed what the Grand Strand has to offer, and he and his growing family are proud to now call it home. In his spare time, he likes salt and freshwater fishing as well as playing golf. He is also interested in rebuilding classic automobiles and has always loved the Run to the Sun Car and Truck Show in Myrtle Beach.
