To aid in diagnosing medical conditions of the musculoskeletal system, OrthoSC provides ultrasound imaging, also called ultrasound scanning or sonography. This nonoperative procedure involves exposing part of the body to high-frequency sound waves to produce real-time images of the inside of the body. Ultrasound exams do not use ionizing radiation (as used in X-rays). Ultrasound imaging is typically used to diagnose:
- Abnormalities of the muscles
- Bleeding or other fluid collections within the muscles, bursae, and joints
- Early changes of rheumatoid arthritis
- Small benign and malignant soft tissue tumors
- Tendon tears
OrthoSC provides ultrasound-guided injections at all of our office locations. For more information regarding ultrasound imaging, please click on the Schedule an Appointment button or call one of our locations: Conway, Murrells Inlet, Myrtle Beach – Carolina Forest, or Myrtle Beach – Market Common at (843) 353-3460.
