Martha M. Recovers From a Sudden Knee Injury With Personalized Care & Physical Therapy
Longtime dancer Martha M. feared her season was at risk after she felt a pop in her left knee during a neighborhood water aerobics class. Under the care of OrthoSC’s Dr. Christopher Feathers, she soon found the expert guidance she needed to get back on her feet.
At first, Martha did not think much about the injury. But the next day during a three-hour dance rehearsal, her knee pain steadily increased, forcing her to skip a planned tap class. By that evening, her knee had swollen to twice its normal size. Concerned about losing time doing what she loves, she returned to Dr. Feathers, remembering the excellent care she had received from him in the past.
After reviewing X-rays that showed no significant structural injury, Dr. Feathers developed a conservative treatment plan and referred Martha to physical therapy. Within a month, she was back to dancing with confidence.
“My knee is so much better than it was even before I started physical therapy,” Martha said.
Andrew Wade, CEO of OrthoSC, said her experience reflects the organization’s mission.
“Our providers work every day to help people keep doing what they love,” Wade said. “Martha’s recovery shows the power of skilled, compassionate care.”
Thanks to timely treatment and rehabilitation, Martha has returned to rehearsals and has fully resumed her regular dance activities.
