Area Attractions

There is truly something for everyone in the Grand Strand area. From outdoor recreational activities, family-friendly events, cultural museums, wineries, shopping, and dining, you’re sure to find plenty to do after your clinic hours.

Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach is the Grand Strand’s capital of family fun and entertainment, offering beautiful resorts and public beaches. Part of the Grand Strand of South Carolina, Myrtle Beach calls more than 14 million visitors to its shores each year. The 60 miles of coastline that comprise the Strand are well-maintained for the enjoyment of residents and tourists. In the hustle and bustle of dynamic Myrtle Beach, our partners never run out of activities to keep them busy, whether they want to take the kids on a roller coaster ride and plummet down a waterslide or spend a day on the white sand beaches playing volleyball or frisbee.

Myrtle Beach boasts over 100 championship golf courses, a multitude of amusement and water parks, and plenty of art, theater, and entertainment attractions that provide a constant stream of concerts, shows, and sporting events, such as The Carolina Opry, Broadway at the Beach, or the annual Baseball at the Beach tournament with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. And if water sports are your activity of choice, just take your pick. Jet skiing, kayaking, wakeboarding, surfing, and parasailing are just a few of the options available at your request. A particular favorite Myrtle Beach venue for our doctors is The Dunes Golf & Beach Club on North Ocean Boulevard.

Conway

What’s not to love about the beautiful and friendly capital of Horry County? Tree-lined streets, lush riverfront trails, a revitalized business district, and historic sites are just a few of the things that make Conway such a charming town. It is nestled in a bend of the Waccamaw River and considered South Carolina’s “River Town,” but the river isn’t the only natural wonder that characterizes this picturesque city; Conway, considered a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation for the past 22 years, adores its ancient, low-hanging, Spanish moss-covered oak trees. Affectionately referred to as Conway’s “oldest living residents,” the trees of Conway are just one of the unique features that define the city.

In addition to the beautiful natural scenery, culture, and character that abounds in Conway, there’s always a sporting event to watch at Coastal Carolina University, a local art show at a downtown studio, or a social community event to look forward to on the River Walk. As host to nearly every social event within Conway—from Christmas light displays to live music on warm summer nights—the enchanting River Walk is the heart and soul of the city. The Conway River Walk merges the area’s stunning natural environment with man-made marvels, such as the Waccamaw River Memorial Bridge. Beginning under the Main Street bridge and winding around to the beautiful riverfront park and marina complex, this trail showcases the majesty and history of the area with plenty of places to stop and enjoy the view, such as historic buildings, the Conway Arboretum, the playground, and a riverside gazebo.

Whether our doctors are taking wooded hikes and going to outdoor festivals or spending afternoons at the golf course and lounging at the pool, leisure time in Conway is always a pleasure. And being just a short drive away from the Atlantic Ocean only adds to the lure of this coastal community.

Murrells Inlet

Just 15 minutes from Myrtle Beach is the South Carolina treasure, Murrells Inlet, a small, seaside town teeming with warmth and character. Murrells Inlet is locally regarded as the go-to city for incredible fresh fish and seaside restaurants. Fishing, biking, kayaking, scuba diving, crabbing, bird watching, nature trails, eco tours, parks, and gardens are just a few of the countless activities that keep folks occupied in Murrells Inlet. Huntington Beach State Park is another call-to-fame for this coastal town. Brookgreen Gardens, a 9,100-acre historic property that features beautiful botanical gardens and over 350 sculptures as well as the Lowcountry Zoo are main attractions at Huntington Beach State Park. And if you’re ready for a more urban scene, Murrells Inlet is also home to a wide array of shopping outlets, spas, fitness clubs, and cultural entertainment.

Although its population is only about 7,000, there is never a shortage of entertainment in this coastal town. And the hub of all of this activity is the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk. Similar to Conway’s River Walk, the MarshWalk is a lively waterfront trail that embodies the spirit of Murrells Inlet. With boardwalk entertainment, beachfront dining, live music, and striking views, the MarshWalk is a Grand Strand favorite for locals and visitors alike.

Restaurants

The immaculate beaches may be the main attractions of the Grand Strand area, but the fresh seafood and Southern cooking come in at a close second. The Grand Strand offers a variety of cuisine, from local favorites like Conway's Berni’s Café or Rivertown Bistro to popular hotspots, like the Ocean Fish Market on Kingston Street, where you can take the area’s best fresh fish to go or have it fried on the spot and served to you in just minutes. And when you’re in the mood for upscale seafood dining, check out Murrells Inlet, the “Seafood Capitol of South Carolina.”
